Prestige Autowood and Trim

A wood dash is the single change that most alters the inside of an older British sports car, and for decades the only way to compare suppliers was through the owners' mailing lists. This page is an artefact of that: an enthusiast who kept being asked about one dashboard maker phoned for a brochure, scanned the whole thing along with the colour photographs that came with it, and put it on his own site so that everyone on the list could look instead of asking again.

Two things in that are worth keeping. The first is the disclosure — he states plainly that he has no financial interest in the company and had not bought from them, which is the etiquette that kept hobby mailing lists usable and is rarer now than it was. The second is the warning about page size and loading time, a reminder that scanning a brochure for a community of readers on dial-up connections was a real piece of work.

For anyone shopping for a wood dash today the questions are still the ones the brochure answers: what veneer and finish are used, whether the kit is cut for the exact model and switch layout, how the instrument holes are trimmed, and whether matching steering wheels and trim are available. Prices, telephone numbers and availability on this page are historical.
