Springfield Baptist Church will host its annual holiday production of Soulful Noel: A Message of Hope on December 9-11, 2016 at Springfield Baptist Church. The story of Soulful Noel is in its second season and is becoming a staple in the holiday season of members of the Springfield Baptist Church as well as the greater New/Rock (Newton and Rockdale) community. The production tells the story of the birth of Jesus from an Afrocentric, biblical perspective. Steeped in the traditions of the Black Church, the production brings to the stage powerful, spirit-filled singing and dynamic acting.
This year’s theme has a 1970-1980 look in sound and fashion. At the heart of the production is the need for hope. Hope is needed as we face the dismay and despair of tough economic and political times. We need hope to deal with the perils, the ails and the vicissitudes of life. The spirit of the times around us reflect a need for believers and unbelievers to grab hold to hope. This production is designed to inspire and encourage all who attend to walk in optimism and trust that tomorrow will be brighter than today.
