| Introduction Exact Audio Copy is a great deal in the software world. It's loaded with features, produces wonderful extractions and has a low cost (a postcard to the author). But to a new user of EAC, all of it's options and features can be intimidating. I'll explain what these options do and how to set them up in order to achieve the best possible results. |

1: Download & Install Download and install Exact Audio Copy. I recommend using this program over other CD Rippers because it is the only program that as part of the extraction process, compares the data it extracts to the actual data on the source disc. This feature is very important because it detects errors and will reread a particular sector up to 82 times in order to get a good extraction. It is also the only CD ripper that reports on the accuracy of it's reads and give you a list of locations where flaws (if any) may occur. |

2: Setting Up Your Hardware The next thing to do is set the 'Drive Options' (F10). Press OK to advance past the warning screen. Now you are on the 'Extraction Method' option screen. Insert an audio CD then press the 'Detect Drive Features' button. The options that are most desirable are 'Accurate Stream-No Caching'. Test all your drives (by going back to the main screen and selecting it) and use the one that has these features. Most SCSI and newer IDE/UDMA based CD-Roms support "Secure Mode/Accurate Stream".
