Golf or Fish?

eMetro Sports Featured

picture-fish-golfingMan, I love to do both.  Choosing which to do can be very agonizing sometimes.  Does anyone else have this issue?  Just like everything, the two sports have their pros and cons.  They probably cost the same if you compare the cost of fuel to the cost of green fees.  I find both mentally challenging and staying focused is a major hurdle I have to overcome to have any success in either sport. Finally, both are capable of ticking me off.

For the past couple of years, golf has been winning.  But a few weeks ago, I started get the fishing itch again.  It never fails when I’m playing golf and not scoring well or waiting on the oh so slow group in front of me, who is usually playing the wrong tees or just not caring about the pace of play,  I think to myself  “I would much rather be fishing.”   Where are the Marshals?  GEEEZZZ…  I see them riding around but that’s all they seem to do.  I don’t expect them to kick the group off the golf course but a nice little reminder that you’re two holes behind the group in front of you would go a long way.  Slow groups or missing a 3 footer tends to compromise my state of mind.

Getting skunked on your own pond is tough to endure and doesn’t help my befuddled state of mind.

I’ll share a perfect example.  My buddy James from Monticello came by and we decided to wet a hook on an perfect spring day.  We headed to the pond with  enormous anticipation of wearing out some bass lips but soon came to the realization there would be no fish fry that night.  At least one of us had the perseverance to keep casting while the other decided to sit on the bank and take in the moment.   Then, all of a sudden I yelling and screaming!  James snagged a alb bass.  That’s what he said and I wasn’t going to argue because  there is no denying it was one more than I had brought to the bank!

Congrats James… I’ll see you on the links.

I just thank the good Lord I have such a dilemma   Golf or Fish?
