Covington, GA – Feel more like a Vampire by partaking in a special Wine Tasting this month at the CORK boutique and gifts.
As part of the “Vampire Diaries” finale event on the Square in Covington on May 14 and 15, patrons can partake in a special drop-in tasting of wine from Vampire Vineyards, which started producing wine in California in 2007 after producing it elsewhere the decade prior.
The CORK will feature each Vampire wine that is sold in Georgia–Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay–as part of the tasting, which will be held those Thursday and Friday afternoons for $7 per person.
“We have sold Vampire wine since we opened our shop a year and a half ago,” said Michelle Floyd, manager of the CORK. “A lot of fans enjoy getting a bottle while they are in town, and even a lot of locals enjoy it–especially when we explain that it’s a reputable vineyard and not something that was created as a marketing item for the show. Each time that a large amount of “Vampire Diaries” fans are in town, we try to hold a special tasting in our store so visitors and current residents can stop by to try it.”
The CORK also plans to offer treats at the tasting event, like Vampire Bites, which were created by the founders of Unicoi Preserves in Helen around Halloween time this past year.
“All you have to do is put a little red jam or jelly inside of a pastry, making it look like a Vampire took a bit out of it,” Floyd said. “Unicoi’s Vineyard Spread is the perfect filling for these and
accompanies the Vampire wine well.”
The CORK boutique and gifts is open from Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The shop also recently introduced new vampire-themed mead. B. Nektar’s Black Fang is a semi-sweet beer similar to a wheat wine flavored with blackberries,
honey, cloves and orange peel. It is bottled and soon will be available on draft in the growler shoppe.
