Malaikia Sims-Winfrey of Conyers, Georgia won the title of 2016 Miss Teen Pageant Competition that took place on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Malaikia is a junior at Heritage High School’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts where she is majoring in musical theater. She is the daughter of Angela Sims-Winfrey of Conyers, Georgia, and Rev. Tyronne Edwards of Braithwaite, Louisiana.
With just over 100 girls in her age division (16-19 years old), Malaikia displayed her personality and interviewing skills in a professional interview with this year’s judging panel. She also took part in a Casual Wear and Formal Wear Competition. Personality was the number one aspect that each contestant was judged on during all phases of competition.
As 2016 Miss Teen Winner, Malaikia will be representing Georgia, with other Division Winners to compete at the National Miss Teen Competition in Orlando, Florida in the summer of 2023. Along with an expense paid trip to Orlando, Malaikia will have the opportunity to compete for over $30,000.00 in prizes, awards, and specialty gifts at the National Competition.
“A true winner is one that is beautiful on the inside and is complimented by how she presents herself on the outside. Our judges have the opportunity to get to know each unique personality as they meet each contestant during the first part of competition.” (Miss Teen, Pageant with Purpose)
