About City Home

Who we are, what we cover and how this domain came to carry a new publication.

City Home is an independent publication about the practical side of American life: what a move actually costs, what the lines on a utility bill mean, how school enrolment and public paperwork work, and what a household is owed when something goes wrong.

What we cover

Six sections: Cities & Moving, Home & Property, Money & Bills, Schools & Family, Food & Local Life, and Nation & World. We favour the questions people ask over and over — the ones where the honest answer is a procedure, a number or a comparison rather than an opinion.

How we work

Every article names the mechanism and where the rule comes from. Where something is set state by state, we say so and show the reader how to look up their own, instead of inventing a national figure to make a sentence tidier. Corrections are made in the article and noted at the foot of it.

The archive on this domain

This address previously carried a community newspaper covering the towns east of Atlanta, and later a run of paid placements. None of it has been deleted. Those pages stay online in the archive, marked as archive material, because people still link to them and the record has value. City Home is a new publication and does not continue that newspaper's editorial line, contacts or business.
