TUCKER GA – WOW In-Sync, a non-profit organization helping adults with developmental disabilities and autism develop life and career skills, announced that CARF International has awarded three-year accreditation to the organization. This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization, and shows WOW In-Sync’s substantial conformance to CARF’s exacting standards. This latest accreditation is the fourth consecutive three-year accreditation that CARF, the international accrediting body, has awarded to WOW In-Sync.
“Working to gain status as a three-year accredited facility, although a long and arduous process, was an incredibly valuable experience for our staff and team members,” said Karen Lynn, founder and president of WOW In-Sync. “To earn this honor, we had to demonstrate through a peer review how we met the standards, how we determine success and how we customize our programs to meet the needs of each of our program participants. A three-year CARF accreditation is testament that WOW In-Sync’s programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.”
CARF accredited WOW In-Sync in five areas, four of which focus on employment services for program participants:
- Community employment services: job development;
- Community employment services: employment support
- Community integration
- Employee development services
- Employment planning services
The first two community employment service categories represent new areas of accreditation for WOW In-Sync.
A CARF survey team visited WOW In-Sync in January, spending three days onsite at WOW In-Sync’s
facilities in Fayette County and Tucker, Georgia. While there, the team observed WOW In-Sync
program members; talked to parents and community partners; interviewed staff members; audited processes; reviewed programs and services; and inspected the facilities. The report and accreditation were issued in February.
“WOW In-Sync is a professionally operated organization that provides person-centered services,” stated the team in a summary report. “The management and staff members exercise flexibility and creativity to honor the individual strengths of persons served and to adjust their individual service plans, as needed, to reflect personalized goals. The organization is energized by its work. Many parents refer to WOW In-Sync as being ‘out front’ in its field.”
Other notable quotes from the summary included:
“Families of persons served express high praise for WOW In-Sync and its services. Some referred to the organization as a ‘godsend’.” |
“A high level of energy, along with a clear sense that the options of all involved are unlimited, is generated in the programs by persons served and staff members.” |
“WOW In-Sync is commended for its willingness to implement new ideas and concepts. The exceptional openness of the members of upper management to outside input is anticipated to help the organization progress toward meaningful future programming options.” |
“Staff members respect and protect persons’ rights and accord persons served a high level of dignity and respect at all times. They use a variety of methods to communicate the rights to the persons served and persons’ understanding of their rights appears to correspond to their ability levels.” |
