On Thursday, September 3, the two Rotary Clubs hosted the 28th annual United Way Campaign Kick-Off at the Rockdale Medical Center. Rotarians and invited guests heard the United Way message from the youngest campaign spoken person, 6 year old Priah. She told the attendees about the importance of community coming together to support each other and how together we can help families become self-sufficient.
Marcie Howington, executive director of Phoenix Pass and a graduate of the program shared local examples of how working together lives can be changed for the greater good of individuals, families, the community.
Moses completed the event with the ask for all to get involved by giving of their time and making a donation. He also asked each and all to purchased BBQ at the September 24th United Way/Family Promise 15th annual event. This undertaking is made possible by Jim N Nick’s Community BBQ working with RCA Culinary Arts program in preparing food for 3000 plates. All proceeds from this event will support programs in Rockdale.
