Is he? The latest Tiger Woods sighting was at this year’s Ryder Cup where after many consecutive wins with Europe dominating, USA came out on top. Davis Love was our great captain at the helm. He not only strategically chose his team but also chose Tiger to be his assistant Captain. It was a great choice! Who wouldn’t want Tiger on your team any way, any how.
That being said, there were great players that were not chosen like Bubba Watson. Bubba actually reached out to Davis begging him to pick him for the last spot left on the team, only to be politely denied for I can only guess why. Sometimes it’s not the game you can bring but the team spirit that becomes extremely important in this type of format. Bubba may be a great player but he is not really known to be a team player.
Tiger announced his return to The Tour on Oct 13-16th at the Silverado Resort. Will he return as the complete dominant golfer on tour? Not hardly, but I’m sure he’s capable of winning tournaments and even a major, even though it won’t be easy. There’s a few young guns now that won’t be intimidated by Tiger like some in the past that had to endure the Tiger ERA. That was when some of the best golfers in the world would shake in their cleats when Tiger was even on the same golf course.
Oh, by the way, Tiger say’s he’s just kidding. He’s not sure he is ready to return this week. Imagine that!
Here are a few young guns that he will have to compete against: Beef Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Martin Kaymer, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson, and even older golfers like Jim Furyk, who recently shot a record 58 at the Travelers Championship. Jim also was bestowed the Payne Stewart Award 2016. Any golfer would love this tremendous honor.
II noticed Tiger Woods’ name is nowhere to be found receiving this honor. Guess who receive the very first Payne Stewart Award? That’s right, the greatest golfer of all time was Mr. Arnold Palmer.
I assure you the Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and the Lee Trevino of the past wouldn’t even know he was on the course.
Arnold Palmer (1929 – 2016) passed away Sept 25, 2016. What a great golfer and even greater individual to represent golf and how to treat people as a whole, giving back to the same people that loved you so much.
Rest in peace Mr. Palmer
Till next tee time.
