Senator JaNice Van Ness participated in the Rockdale County Senior Services Rubber Ducky Race again this year and was very impressed by the hard work of the organizers! Melissa Pugh has done an outstanding job as the volunteer and fundraising coordinator.
“Not only is this the best turnout that I’ve seen in my many years of attending this event but I also think we have the best looking T-shirts that we’ve ever had,” said Van Ness.
This wonderful community event not only is a fundraiser for the senior services programs in the community but it’s also one of the most fun events held every year in Rockdale County. The event was held at Costley Mill Park, which is a private park owned by Beverly and Sil Bowman. Participants purchased rubber ducks which were dropped in the waterfall and the first 20 to cross the finish line won a variety of prizes. Proceeds are used to support programs such as Meals on Wheels, congregate meals, grandparents raising grandchildren, as well as providing transportation vouchers.
