The Rockdale County Public School (RCPS) Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl saw some serious readers going head to head Saturday, January 30, for the district trophy. Eleven elementary school teams read 17 books while three middle school teams read 20 books. The teams were then quizzed game-show style on the content of the books. Barksdale Elementary won the first place trophy for the first time and Shoal Creek Elementary came in second for elementary schools. Out of the middle school teams, Davis Middle School came in first and Edwards Middle School came in second. The top two elementary and middle school teams will go on to the regional Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition at Clayton State University on February 13.  Congratulations and good luck to BES, SCE, DMS and EMS!

The Gen. Ray Davis Middle team, under the guidance of Keri DeVane, Kim Sanderson, Sabrina Dorsey, includes: Megan Fachisthers, Ciara Devane, Catherine Sanderson, Isabelle Sanderson, Kai Sprattling, Emma Brock, Ashley Peacock, Emma Macdonald, Victoria Martins.
