Last week, Gene Schell died in a vehicular accident. Gene was well known-in in the community as a husband, father, business owner, community leader, and the commander of the Conyers VFW Post 5290.
Our thoughts are with his family and his extended family of Post 5290. He was passionate about those he cared about and spent every waking moment working to help local veterans. He had recently begun some exciting projects to further help veterans. He was a great friend to many and cared deeply for this community. During his time as the post commander he brought forth new initiatives with a laser focus to help veterans, in particular returning veterans.
We support our military and our community and shared his passion to help our local heroes who served with honor and humility asking little for us while providing so much. The very freedoms we enjoy today are a result of the sacrifice of our veterans.
We ask the community to keep Commander Schell’s family and fellow brothers in arms in their prayers. We encourage the community to join with the Rockdale Republican Party to continue the legacy he began. Support and honor his memory by making a donation to the VFW Post 1492. Continue supporting the VFW by attending bingo night, poker night, and enjoy creations from the Bar & Grill.
Contributions can be mailed to 1432 VFW Drive Conyers GA 30012 or provided in person. Please be sure to put “in memory of Gene Schell” so your contributions can be recorded correctly. All contributions are tax deductible. The best way to honor him is by financially helping continue the projects that he had recently begun for the post and helping those dreams become a reality. Know that all of your contributions will be used locally for the purpose of helping local veterans of Rockdale County.
