The Rockdale County 4-H club needs your assistance to fulfill the 4-H motto, “To Make The Best Better.”
4-H is one of the largest youth organizations in the world! Georgia 4-H is a part of the University of Georgia’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Georgia 4-H helps youth develop skills such as public speaking in a fun and constructive environment.
Rockdale County 4-H offers a variety of opportunities for the youth in our community to enhance skills such as leadership, public speaking, and team building. 4-H also offers exploration of careers, colleges, work choices and much more.
Rockdale County 4-H is a free program for youth in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Monthly meetings are held that focus on community service and age appropriate curriculum. In addition to monthly meetings, Rockdale County 4-H hosts additional activities such as special project clubs (horse club, etc.), judging teams, summer camps, and field trips.
Mary Allen joined Rockdale County 4-H in fifth grade. She attended summer camp at Rock Eagle, UGA’s youth camp located in Eatonton, GA. She competed in project achievement and on multiple judging teams.
When asked how 4-H has impacted her life Mary responded, “4-H gave me many opportunities to learn and compete. The knowledge I’ve learned through various judging teams and quiz bowls has made me a well-rounded person. I gained confidence through public speaking competitions and leadership initiatives. I also have a huge network of friends from all around the state thanks to my many years in 4-H. It is a great program!”
Today Mary is a fifth grade teacher at JH House Elementary School where she encourages and welcomes 4-H into the classroom.
