For a third time, student researchers From the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology (RMSST) have been invited to attend Japan’s Super Science High School (SSH) Fair. Later this summer, Khaylie Boothe, Jacqueline Gomez, and Anna LaMontagne will travel to Kobe, Japan, to present their research to the event’s international audience.
The three young ladies, whose research interests vary greatly, will present as a group under the title of “Scientific Inquiry at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology”. The students will present research posters and an oral presentation during the four-day event.
This year’s group will be chaperoned by Dr. Debra Russell, a Biology teacher at RMSST. Russell is excited to see and experience a part of the world that she has never been to before. When asked, Dr. Russell said, “I am most excited about meeting and interacting with students from all over the world and seeing how our group responds and interacts with them. I know it will be an awesome experience.”
Scott Bolen, RMSST’s Research Coordinator, is excited and honored for RMSST to have been invited for a third time to present in Japan. “Participation in Japan’s SSH fair has really illustrated to me the global significance of a STEM focused education,” said Bolen. “Fairs and events like this teach students and remind teachers that science translates easily across borders and despite language differences.”
