The Rockdale County Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) announced their annual charity golf tournament. Golf for Vets will be held at Honey Creek Golf and Country Club on April 22. Registration will begin at 7:30am with a shotgun start at 9:00.
Funds raised will go to support Rockdale County. “These brave men and women served their country, with honor. We work tirelessly to help them transition to civilian life meeting needs that include employment, housing, and general transition issues. We are working to build transitional housing, a vision our late commander Gene began before his untimely death.” John Darby, Chairman VFW Auxiliary.
The VFW is a 501C3 charitable organization and all contributions are 100% tax deductible. The VFW serves veterans who have returned from deployment as they cope with the challenges of serving conflicts abroad. These challenges include housing, employment, and PTSD. Priority issues include helping navigate VA Healthcare and benefits, seamless transition, and education & employment.
The Golf for Vets tournament includes a hole in one contest sponsored by Honda Conyers – a new Honda vehicle for a hole in one on the designated Par 3 hole. Other contests include closest to the pin, longest drive, and putting. Other sponsors include Conyers – Rockdale Chamber of commerce. Sponsorship opportunities include Gold Level $400 and includes range sponsorship with signage, foursome for tournament, and hole sponsorship with signage. Silver is $150 and includes putting contest sponsorship with signage, and the Bronze level is $100 and includes hole sponsorship with signage. Player registration is $60.
