The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners invites elected officials, County employees, and the public to a meet and greet to welcome a new director and three new deputy directors to the Rockdale County team on Tuesday, April 18th from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. in the lobby of the Assembly Hall at 901 Main St., Conyers.
Members of the community are encouraged to bring business cards as they meet and network with new Director Toni Holmes and Deputy Directors Thermice Bevelle, Jason Redmond, and Taqua Thrasher during this drop-in event.
Toni Holmes, Human Resources Director
Toni Holmes is the Director of Human Resources. In this role, she oversees the overall administration, coordination and function of the department.
She brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources, employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, labor relations, organization and personnel planning to Rockdale County. She is the President and founder of WeAreHR, LLC and Human Resources Consultant that has worked for global companies such as Iron Mountain who specialize in secure records management, document imaging and data protection.
Thermice Bevelle, Deputy Director of Marketing, Communications and Tourism, Recreation & Maintenance
Thermice Bevelle is the deputy director of marketing, communications and tourism.
She handles brand management, public information, public relations, media relations, press releases, publications, social media, and crisis communications. She also markets SPLOST projects, generates advertising material, develops public affairs strategies for department programs, initiatives and services, manages external communication with constituency, arranges tours of county properties, oversees all facility usage by the television and film industry, and promotes tourism.
Bevelle, a Rockdale County resident, spent 18 years with the City of Atlanta where she produced and hosted a TV program and had a wide range of communications and press office responsibilities.
Jason Redmond, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation Operations
Jason Redmond, the parks and recreation operations deputy director, comes from the City of Atlanta where he was a recreation program supervisor. Redmond, who lives in Conyers, has been a basketball, football, soccer, and baseball coach with youth programs for 16 years and was recognized as the East Lake YMCA 2015 volunteer of the year. He is also a certified trainer in First Aid/CPR/AED. Redmond is an active member of the Georgia Recreation Parks Association (GRPA) and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).
In his new role, Redmond is responsible for managing the programming and daily operations of the recreation division as well as grounds maintenance; overseeing staff as the division creates more community events, concerts, movies, mixed-age opportunities, and arts programs; and serving as point of contact for recreation items such as athletics, rentals, programs, therapeutic recreation, youth sports, and other areas.
Taqua Thrasher, Deputy Director of Management Information Services
Taqua Thrasher has more than 10 years of IT experience and several certifications focused on Microsoft, virtualization, security and service delivery. Originally from Athens, Thrasher is a graduate of Clarke Central High School. He attended Fort Valley State University, where he was an All-Conference Wide Receiver in 2003. He received his master’s degree in Public Administration in 2012 from Troy University. He currently resides in Hampton with his wife and two children.
