Conyers, GA – Wall Street Conyers Office Condominiums and Amici restaurant hosted an event to raise awareness and money for Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale (PCAR – http://www.pcarockdale.org) on April 21 at Amici. Nearly 200 people attended the event that raised $12,000, which nearly doubled last year’s fundraiser.
“Thanks to everyone for their hard work and countless hours spent to make the event a great success, as well as the sponsors, and businesses and individuals who gave to the silent auction,” said Diane Howington, Executive Director for PCAR. “Because of the wonderful fundraiser at Amici’s, children will be protected and families will be strengthened n our community. Every dollar stays here and is invested in our children. Also, every dollar raised will be considered “match money” and will enable us to qualify for state funding.”
The evening included appetizers, wings, pizza, trivia, live music by Anthony Crane and Dustin Bragg, and silent auction. SCBtv and Cynthia Jill Photography captured the entire event and donated the wonderful video and photos.
According to Wall Street Conyers’ Marketing Director, Katie Beam, Prevent Child Abuse has been serving the community for the last 26 years assisting hundreds of children every year. “We want people to ask questions to find out how they can dig deeper and change the lives of our children right here in Rockdale,” said Katie.
“This is a very special year for many reasons. We have expanded our parenting programs and are serving more families in Rockdale and Newton than ever before,” said Diane. “With this expansion, we have had to increase our fundraising efforts in order for us to meet the needs of the community. The month of April is Child Abuse Awareness month and we spend the entire month working to let people know what a serious issue this is in our community and what each of us can do to prevent child abuse.”
If you were unable to attend the fundraiser, PCAR will accept tax deductible donations online at http://www.pcarockdale.org or by mail at Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale, 1430 Starcrest Drive, Conyers, 30012. If you are able to donate your time, PCAR is in need of daytime babysitters for children in foster care at the local DFCS office. Please call Diane Howington at 770-483-7333 if you would like to make an impact on the life of a child in need.
