Peachtree Academy has come out the gate strong in regards to its spring sports teams. Winning a region crown in its first year in bass fishing, BJ Dunning and Cameron Huchel brought home the region crown in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association (GICCA) tournament down on Lake Sinclair.
In Varsity baseball, the team is currently 7-3 and 1-0 in region play. After a successful trip to South Carolina to take on Hilton Head Prep and May River High School, the team has come back strong, beating a strong Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) member in Bethlehem Christian and looks to be in prime position in region play.
The softball team is starting to put it together as a number of issues, including weather, delayed their season opener. They are currently 1-3, but are preparing to take on region foes and level out their season.
In the first season of girls swimming, Alexa Anderson, Nikki Blake, Emily Earwood and Isabel Collins placed well in the school’s first meet, with Sophomore Nikki Blake placing 32nd in the 50 yard freestyle and Sophomore Isabel Collins placing 44th. Freshman Alexa Anderson placed 16th in the 50 yard Butterfly. Alexa Anderson came back, placing 16th in the 100 yard Freestyle with Nikki Blake placing 30th. Alexa also placed 14th in the 50 yard Backstroke.
At the GICCA Invitational track meet, the boys and girls teams performed well with the boys placing first and girls third in the overall points standings, placing them a combined 2nd for the meet.
Boys and girls tennis are underway, with the boys team at 1-2 and the girls team at 2-1 for the season.
In girls middle school soccer, the team is 2-1-1 with the boys at 0-5, but are very young and learning to compete against the older teams.
So, a very successful start to the spring for Peachtree Academy. The school currently participates in 14 interscholastic sports and will continue to expand that number and the number of student participants.
