Georgia Military College (GMC) – Stone Mountain campus is partnering with a national sports recruiting company to provide high school student athletes and traditional students the opportunity to get a jump start on their college career. They’ve partnered with Eagle Eye Sports, a national sports recruiting company designed to connect high school athletes to college coaches and aid in college prep testing.
GMC-Stone Mountain teamed up with Eagle Eye Sports to provide eligible prospects the opportunity to take dual enrollment courses through GMC’s Move-On-When-Ready (MOWR) program. This partnership is aimed at helping student athletes and traditional students at Metro Atlanta High Schools. This educational opportunity hits close to home for Tucker High School graduate, former NFL Player, and Vice President for Eagle Eye Sports, Greg Billingslea, who believes that this partnership will allow his students to have a better advantage and eligibility for athletic scholarships by earning college credits with GMC. Students at Metro Atlanta High Schools will be able to take their dual enrollment courses both online and at GMC’s extensive campuses.
The MOWR program allows high school students to begin taking college courses as early as ninth grade. GMC is one of the largest MOWR dual enrollment providers in the state of Georgia. Last year, GMC had 1288 high school students enrolled in the state’s MOWR program and these students represented 62 of 159 Georgia counties. Through state funding and GMC scholarship funds, there is zero cost to the students or schools and even textbooks and materials are included. GMC has already seen students upon graduating high school also obtain their associates degree with our institution. GMC currently has dual enrollment partnerships with approximately 90 high schools in the state.
