On Thursday, Nov. 4, 2016, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced they awarded a project to repave three miles of SR 142 from CSX Railroad Bridge to SR 81. This project was one of 22 awarded in November.
“GDOT has been outstanding in their support for addressing the safety and aesthetics of the I-20 corridor and state highways within District 43,” said Sen. Van Ness. “In order to improve the quality of life in our district, we must make sure that our community is kept clean and beautiful. The deteriorating pavement along this road is a danger to motorists and I’m glad that improvements are being made to ensure the safety of our residents and travelers from across the state.”
Since FY 17 began July 1, contracts have been awarded for resurfacing of 592 miles of interstates and state routes, representing an investment of over $184 million. In FY 16, the Department resurfaced 941 miles valued at $688 million.
