In 1949 Howard and Vivian Barnes, one year after starting their lives together, opened Conyers Jewelers. Mr. Barnes, a trained watchmaker, ran the store with his mother, Mrs. Ruby Thompson Barnes. Mrs. Vivian Barnes worked in Atlanta until 1967 when she joined Howard in the daily operation of the store. In 1990 their granddaughter, Teri Tidwell-Stanley, a trained gemologist and jeweler, joined the staff. Today Conyers Jewelers is the oldest continuously operated business in the city.
Over the past 65 years Conyers Jewelers has supplied generations of customers with engagements rings and wedding bands, pendants, bracelets, earrings, custom made jewelry, and other fine jewelry made of diamonds and precious stones. They carry a wide variety of Pandora Charms, Kiddie Kraft Children’s Jewelry, Elle & Frederic Duclos Sterling Silver for Women, Bulova watches , as well as baby gifts, wedding accessories and favors.
Conyers Jewelers is known for their on-site jewelry repair and other services such as ear piercing as well as estate and insurance appraisals.
