Throughout the month of December, bring your friends and family to enjoy Christmas on the Square, presented by Main Street Covington. You’ll find fun holiday events that are sure to entertain everyone. Activities include a visit with Santa in Santa’s Village, rides on the train, children’s crafts, pony rides, s’mores, an inflatable, bucket truck rides and more.

Thursday evenings on December 1st, 8th and 15th, stroll around the Square and Christmas shop. Then you can enjoy complimentary carriage rides from 5:30-8:30 pm.

On the morning of Saturday, December 3rd, grab a place along the Christmas Parade route as it winds along the streets of the Historic Covington Square. The parade is hosted by the Lion’s Club and starts at 10 am when Santa and thousands of his friends will welcome the holiday season to Covington.

On December 11th, the Square will come alive with the true meaning of Christmas. Join us from 6-9 pm for a Live Nativity.

It’s time to combine your sweet tooth and construction skills. Enter the 1st Annual Gingerbread House Competition! The display will be available for viewing beginning December 2nd through December 19th in the lobby of the Historic Courthouse from 8 am-5 pm (closed for lunch noon-1:00 pm), with extended hours during Christmas on the Square evenings on December 2nd, 9th and 16th. We’ve all be taught it’s better to give than receive. That is top of mind for Main Street Covington this Christmas. Each week Main Street is asking that in lieu of ‘admission’ you bring a gift for three organizations that are important in our community. December 2nd is Polar Express night when you are asked to bring a nonperishable food item that will be donated to the Covington FUMC Food Pantry. On December 9th, it’s Grinch night so you are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy that will be donated to Covington Salvation Army. On December 16th, it’s A Charlie Brown Christmas night so you are asked to bring a cap, gloves or scarf to decorate the Charlie Brown trees and to later be donated to Alcovy Casa. With your help we can touch others’ lives.

You won’t want to miss the final celebration of 2016! Main Street Covington invites you to celebrate New Year’s Eve on the Square. Blue Denim will kick the evening off on the Square Park stage at 5 pm and then on the Courthouse stage beginning around 8:45 Accent will take us to midnight as we celebrate the beginning of 2023.
