Atlanta-area senior services provider Senior Connections announced that the Waterfall Foundation has awarded the organization a $50,000 general operating grant. The grant will help defray the costs of senior meals and other critical services provided to hundreds of low-income Georgia seniors.

“We received this generous grant with the help of the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta,” said Debra Furtado, CEO of Senior Connections. “In discussing the extensive need for senior services funding in the greater Atlanta area, the Community Foundation reached out to their funders and the Waterfall Foundation responded.”

After visiting Senior Connections and learning more about the critical support programs provided by Senior Connections, including Meals On Wheels and in-home care, a representative from the Waterfall Foundation recommended a general support grant as the best way to support Senior Connections’ present needs.

“Waterfall has supported our work previously and it was good to reconnect with the Foundation,” Furtado stated. “I believe the on-site visit helped show how we’ve grown through the years.”

About Senior Connections

Since 1973 Senior Connections has provided programs and services designed to help seniors “age in place” in the comfort of their own homes. More than 15,000 nutritious meals are prepared weekly out of Senior Connections’ main kitchen, and meals are distributed throughout metro Atlanta and middle Georgia. In addition to providing this large number of meals, the nonprofit agency provides home repair, in-home care and neighborhood centers to area seniors. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, services are available to anyone over the age of 62, regardless of income level.
