FODAC WalkFriends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC), a non-profit organization providing over $10 million annually in durable medical equipment (DME) and supplies to those living with disability, will hold its 17th Annual Run Walk n’ Roll (RWnR) at Stone Mountain Park on Saturday, 6 May 2024. The family-friendly event is one of FODAC’s main fundraisers. Participants can run, walk or roll through the course; wheelchairs, strollers and walkers are all welcome.

FODAC’s RWnR is a five mile race and two mile walk routing through Stone Mountain Park. The morning event begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 7.30; the race starts at 8.00 and the walk and roll starts at 8.30. There will be door prizes, face-painting, clowns and music during the event. Special guest WSB traffic reporter Doug Turnbull will emcee.

Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the run.

Registration costs are $50 (adults), $25 (children 5-18, must be purchased with adult registration), and children under 5 are free. Teams of 4 can be registered for $160. All registrations include a t-shirt and pre-registrants also will receive a Stone Mountain Park Adventure Pass (valued at $29.95).

Immediately following the 2-mile walk/roll is the annual raffle; tickets are 3 for $10 and can be purchased onsite (cash only).

Sponsors for RWnR include WSB-TV Family 2 Family; Combined Services; Emory Alliance Credit Union; DeKalb County GA; Abatek Americas, Inc.; Fraternal Order of Eagles; DaVita, Inc.; and Jackie Goodman / Atlanta Communities Real Estate.

Registration and other details for Run Walk ‘n Roll can be found at fodac.org/walk.

FODAC is a nonprofit organization that fills a unique role: it provides medical equipment such as wheelchairs, power chairs, walkers, patient lifts and hospital beds at little or no cost to people with disabilities and their families, seeking to enhance the quality of life for people of all ages who have any type of mobility impairment, either temporary or permanent. Most of FODAC’s DME is collected through donations of used equipment which the organization cleans, repairs and reissues to those in need. In 2016, FODAC helped 3,040 clients with 6,809 pieces of DME, all at little to no cost for the recipient.

About FODAC

Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC) helps people with injuries and disabilities of all ages regain their mobility, independence and quality of life. The non-profit organization provides more than $10 million annually in refurbished durable medical equipment (DME) and home modifications in Georgia and across the United States, all at little or no cost to the recipients. A pioneer in re-use, FODAC keeps 350 tons of materials out of landfills each year by refurbishing and reissuing over 500 DME items every month, and is recognized nationally for best practices. In 2014, FODAC was named to Charities Under 5% Overhead, an organization of charities that have operating overhead of five percent or less.

In 2013, Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) appointed FODAC to serve as the statewide distributor of DME and assistive technology in the event of a large population-affecting emergency situation. In this role, FODAC will warehouse the DME and other equipment, then, working with GEMA, the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the American Red Cross (ARC) of Georgia, will coordinate the delivery and distribution to emergency shelters around the state.
