Toast of Rockdale Toastmaster’s Club #8352 was awarded the prestigious President’s Distinguished Award for the term from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.  This award was received after the club met membership qualifications and achieved at least 9 goals established by Toastmaster’s International.  And Toast of Rockdale excelled by completing all 10 of the goals including meeting educational, membership, training and record keeping goals.

The latest ribbon awarded for being President’s Distinguished will be added to the club’s banner.  The banner is covered with many award ribbons received throughout their 20 plus year history.  Toast of Rockdale prides itself as having several members being Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM.)  Members in the club have served at various levels within the Toastmasters organization, including as conference committee chair, Area Governor, Division Governor, and District Governor.

Toast of Rockdale will continue to strive for the President’s Distinguished award status during the 2014-2015 term.  New officers for the 2014-2015 term were inducted by Division C Governor John Simmons on July 8, 2014.  The new officers are Linda Hannah, DTM as President, Audra Gerger as Vice President Education, Michael Parker as Vice President of Membership, Gigi Peters as Vice President Public Relations, Lineeka Oliveras as Secretary, and John Lewallen, DTM as Treasurer.

Toast of Rockdale is a Toastmasters club within Area 31 of Division C of District 14.  Toastmasters is an international organization with the mission to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.  Toastmasters International has over 290,000 members in 14,350 clubs from 22 countries.  Attending meetings helps members to improve their communication and leadership skills.

Toast of Rockdale participates regularly in Toastmasters contests.  Four contests are help annual: Humorous Speech, Evaluation Speech, Table Topics Speech and International Speech.  Toast of Rockdale held its Club Humorous and Evaluation Speech Contests on August 5, 2014.  Linda Hannah won the club’s evaluation speech contest.  Gigi Peters won the club’s humorous speech contest.  Both winners will move on to the Area Contest on September 9, 2014.
