Conyers, GA – The Conyers Main Street Program’s Taste of Conyers held Saturday, May 2 was met with much success in terms of weather, steady crowds, and a variety of award-winning restaurants providing samples of mouthwatering dishes from across the community.
The Taste of Conyers featured a number of local restaurants showcasing samples of their specialties including: Beasley Drug Company, Cakes and Desserts, Celtic Tavern, Sugar Bakers, Rio’s Italian Ice, Gigi’s Place, Atlanta Pizza and Gyro, Olde Town Bistro and Grill, Creamberry’s, Amici, The Chocolate Box, Sweet Row Cakes, Whistle Post Tavern, Mellow Mushroom, Frontera Mex-Mex Grill, Papa John’s, Dairy Queen, Awake Coffee Community, Milk and Brookies, Café Milano, Just Loaf’N Poboys and My Life Style Smoothies.
Four judges sampled a variety of dishes from restaurants who participated in the following categories: Best Appetizer, Best Entrée, Best Dessert and Best Booth Presentation. After sampling food, visiting the booths and deliberating, the judges awarded Just Loaf’N Poboys with the “Best Appetizer Award” for the dish crawfish dip and chips. Frontera Mex-Mex Grill was awarded “Best Entrée Award” for their brisket tacos and The Chocolate Box won the “Best Dessert Award” for chocolate dipped strawberries and blueberries. Dairy Queen of Conyers won “Best Booth Presentation” for their engaging setup including samples, a prize wheel and games. “The Taste of Conyers wouldn’t have been a success without the support of the city of Conyers, Conyers Main Street Foundation, Conyers Downtown Development Authority, Redline Event Productions’ Conyers Car Show, held in conjunction with the Taste of Conyers, our downtown businesses and volunteers who came out in force to give of their time to help produce a great community event,” said Main Street Manager Brittany Evans.
