Welcome back to the Dawg House. It has been a very busy time and very productive – a top 10 recruiting class in Coach Smart’s first year. It is probably one of the best classes ever in history following a coaching change. It shows us all how strong the UGA Brand is.
Also, a lot of credit has to go to Coach Richt and his staff. They laid the groundwork for most of those kids. Then with the staff in flux and coaches not knowing their future they keep at it. The new guys hit the ground running and brought the class home.
Something else about the future looks good. Kirby was ‘Bama’s lead recruiter in the State of Georgia. Kirby grew up here and knows everybody across the state. Now ‘Bama has to bring someone new into that position. Those relationships between high school coaches and college recruiters are important since players often look to their high school coach for guidance and advice. It’s an advantage for UGA and Kirby!
The excitement level that the new staff has brought is spreading. Coach Smart has challenged us to raise the bar at the UGA spring game. We are in. My friends and I are planning for the spring game like it is a regular season game – full tailgate and all. Make your plans now. Let the big dog eat. Go Dawgs!
