High school students wanting or needing an academic boost can get it during an annual summer enrichment camp sponsored by the non-profit American Institute for Resource and Human Development, Inc. (AIRHD)
June 1-19 at Salem High School, 3551 Underwood Road, SE, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The three-week program will focus on improving math, science and writing skills.
“The ideal participants are not only high achieving students, but also those who are perhaps struggling academically,” says AIRHD director Dr. Fred Anunobi. “The camp is especially effective for low-achieving and disadvantaged high school students in Rockdale, DeKalb and Newton counties.”
Anunobi adds that the program aims to prepare rising 9th graders for the rigors of high school. Another big emphasis for the camp is on standardized testing, including end of course, PSAT, SAT and the Georgia High School Graduation test preps.
Camp registration runs through Tuesday, June 2. Registration, which can be done on-site, is $50 and includes program materials, snacks and a camp T-shirt. The registration application and payment is online at www.american-resource.org.
