Sheriff Eric J. Levett is pleased to announce Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Natalie King and Derek Frasier recently graduated from the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Law Enforcement Academy. Both of the deputies successfully completed the basic mandate law enforcement program, which is designed to exceed the state required basic training for law enforcement officers.
The academy takes 17 weeks to complete and consists of 744 P.O.S.T. training hours of rigorous training that includes classroom-based lecture and sessions involving tactical training. Graduates completing this program gain, in addition to their P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement certification, 42 semester college credits towards an associate’s degree in criminal justice. As mandated by state law, all police officers in Georgia must complete this training in order to earn certification through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST).
