Senior Connections announced that The Imlay Foundation has awarded the organization Georwith a $20,000 general operating grant. The grant will help defray the costs of senior meals and other critical services provided to hundreds of low-income Georgia seniors.
“The Imlay Foundation has been a long-time supporter of ours,” said Debra Furtado, CEO of Senior Connections. “With the number of low-income seniors increasing, and the demand for our programs and services on the rise, this award will be of great help to us. We will be able to keep more seniors independent, healthy, and in their own homes. It is truly an honor to partner with The Imlay Foundation to improve a community’s overall quality of life.”
The Imlay Foundation’s motto, “People are the Key,” exemplifies the importance of strong neighborhoods. The Foundation believes that it starts with people, their passion and willingness to create a better world for everyone.
Senior Connections has also recently received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta to be used for civic engagement of seniors in metro Atlanta.
Senior Connections was founded in 1973 when it started as a small non-profit agency delivering meals in Decatur. Forty years later, Senior Connections is one of the largest home and community-based service providers in Georgia. Skilled employees and volunteers help thousands of seniors in metro Atlanta and middle Georgia by providing services such as home delivered meals, in-home care and home repairs.
