On Friday, March 17, 2023, the Rotary Club of Rockdale County is sponsoring the 8th Annual World’s Shortest Endurance Race. The race is 0.1 mile in length and goes from the Conyers Welcome Center to The Pointe on Railroad Street. It starts immediately following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Olde Town.
Everyone is Irish for the day when the Conyers Main Street Program holds the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Olde Town Conyers followed by the World’s Shortest Endurance Race. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been a Conyers tradition since 1985 and is longer than the endurance race, at two miles.
Anyone can participate in the walking parade, where local businesses and school groups participate. There are no vehicles allowed in the parade. To participate, meet at the corner of Main and Center Streets at 4:30 p.m. At the end of the parade, the children’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade King and Queen will be crowned and the Leprechaun Lookalike Contest winner will be announced.
The World’s Shortest Endurance Race starts at 5:00 p.m. for kids 12 years and under. Then at 5:02 p.m. is the shotgun start for everyone else.
Pre-registration for the endurance race is recommended. World-class, multi-colored, designed t-shirts will be provided to everyone who pre-registers. Registration cost ranges from $20 to $30 per person, depending on the t-shirt size. Registration forms must be postmarked no later than March 3, 2023. For additional registration information, visit www.rockdalerotary.org.
Every year Olde Town Conyers and the city look forward to the great crowd that continues to grow with the Irish celebration. In addition to the parade and endurance race, businesses in Olde Town will offer great deals on merchandise as well as food and drink specials for parade attendees. Live music and traditional Irish dishes will be available in select restaurants throughout the day and night.
