Residents from Rockdale County and surrounding communities attended a Vascular Heart Screening event at Rockdale Medical Center Saturday, September 17, 2016. The extended vascular screenings are part of the Life Point Health mission to Make Communities Healthier®. They are a great step for anyone who wants to improve their health.
The vascular screenings at Rockdale Medical Center are simple and non-invasive. They consist of screenings that are designed to provide information about your risk for stroke and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Screenings check for carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, PAD, blood pressure, sleep apnea, lipid profile, cholesterol and hemoglobin A1C.
One attendee said, “The event was extremely well organized. We moved quickly through each station. The staff was very helpful in guiding me to the next step.”
Getting vascular screenings is important, especially since there are often no warning signs of carotid artery disease until the disease is far advanced. The tests offer a visual snapshot of your blood vessels. With regular screenings, risk factors can be identified in their earliest stages and properly managed.
Rockdale Medical Center recommends anyone over the age of 40 who has multiple risk factors to be screened or otherwise anyone over the age of 55 should participate in the screenings. Risk factors include smoking, high blood pressure, elevated blood cholesterol or lipid levels, lack of physical activity, being overweight, being diagnosed with diabetes, having high stress and having a family history of heart disease or stroke.
Due to the success of the vascular heart screenings, the hospital will be extending the screenings to once a quarter. In response to the convenience of the screenings, an attendee said, “It was close to home and cost effective. I had been going to Lifeline Screenings for over 10+ years now. I will come here from now on!”
Limited screenings will be available during each quarterly event so make your appointment early. To get a screening, the cost is $75 in advance or $100 on the day of the screening. The screenings will be performed at Rockdale Medical Center at 1412 Milstead Avenue in Conyers, Georgia, Day Surgery Entrance. The next screening will take place on Saturday, November 5th from 8 AM-1 PM. Call (678) 806-3500 to schedule an appointment.
