In addition to the Lakeview Estates community, Rockdale County Animal Care and Control is now offering free or low-cost spay/neuter services to residents of the Hi Roc Shores and Fieldstone View/Country Walk community.
Last October, the Georgia Department of Agriculture awarded to Rockdale County a $5,000 grant as part of its Dog and Cat Sterilization Program, which provided free or low-cost spay/neuter services to Lakeview Estates residents. This year, the County continues to use the funds to target additional areas with a high animal population and other animal-related issues.
“Since October, Animal Care and Control has completed 16 free spay/neuter surgeries for residents in Lakeview Estates. In addition to receiving free spay/neuters, these animals also received rabies vaccines, which not only protect the animals, but also the community,” Animal Care and Control Shelter Manager CiJi Baker said.
To schedule surgery for their dog or cat, Lakeview Estates, Hi Roc Shores, and Fieldstone View/Country Walk residents must visit the Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., at 1506 Rockbridge Road, Conyers, 30012. Residents must bring to the shelter a current utility bill or lease agreement to show proof of residency in those two communities. Georgia driver’s licenses will not be accepted.
Once residents in these three communities schedule a surgery date for their cat or dog, they will simply drop off and pick up their animal from the shelter on that scheduled date.
In addition to the free spay/neuter services, the shelter is partnering with a local veterinarian to cover the costs of rabies vaccines, and antibiotics and pain medications that may be prescribed after the surgery.
To date, Animal Care and Control has used a total of $960 of the $5,000 grant to provide free spay/neuter surgeries in Rockdale.
