This year is wrapping up on a high note for Rockdale County Government. Its Department of Finance recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2015.
“We’re so elated that we’ve hit this wonderful milestone of so many consistent years of receiving this recognition,” Chairman and CEO Richard A. Oden said.
“Every one of our administrators and their departments and divisions has contributed to this success over these years. It usually takes many working together as one to accomplish an achievement such as this, and so we’re honored to be recognized.”
For the seventh year, GFOA recognized Rockdale in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including a constructive spirit of disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.
GFOA is a nonprofit, professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada with office in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
