Rockdale County government connected local job seekers with hiring employers across metropolitan Atlanta at the County’s career fair on Fri., April 11 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Rockdale Career Academy.
More than 600 job seekers came from all over Rockdale, neighboring communities and as far away as Alpharetta, to meet with nearly 50 employers looking to fill positions within the next 3-6 months. Lines for the career fair formed before the doors opened with many people eager to find job opportunities. Many job seekers came prepared with resumes in hand and dressed smartly. The career fair was a huge success with 400 jobseekers coming through the doors by 11:30 a.m. that morning.
A variety of industries were available for job seekers to learn more about and perhaps consider career changes. National chain stores, government agencies, non government agencies, colleges and universities, and small businesses were represented and hiring. The career fair also offered to job seekers free workshops to learn new information helpful to their job search, and one-on-one resume reviews where job seekers were able to meet with career coaches and human resource professionals to receive advice on how to improve their resumes.
The County would like to thank the following career fair supporters: Chick-fil-A at Turner Hill Road, Clear Channel Outdoor, GCA Educational Services, the Georgia Department of Labor, and Rockdale County Public Schools.
Finally, job seekers who completed their career fair evaluation forms were entered into a drawing to win a gift basket. Christa Rutledge was the excited winner of several great, useful Rockdale-branded items.
