Rockdale County invites the public to escape the winter weather and share in the warm spirit of the holidays at its annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Sat., Dec.6 in the Rockdale County Auditorium, 903 Main St., Conyers, 30012.
Festivities begin with the Hometown Holiday parade at 4:30 p.m. and the Tree Lighting Celebration starting immediately after the parade between 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
The County encourages citizens of all ages to attend this free, public event.
This year’s theme, “Christmas in Paradise,” will feature performances by local dance groups, elementary, middle, and high school choirs and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will light a large, beautifully-decorated Christmas tree on stage in front of the audience that Cowan Ace Hardware donated. There will still be lights on the large outdoor tree for citizens to enjoy through the holiday season.
Also, the Rockdale County Fraternal Order of Firefighters will be on site outside the Auditorium selling snack items such hot dogs, nachos and hot chocolate. Proceeds will help the organization assist financially-struggling families with holiday needs.
Event supporters include Cowan Ace Hardware, Premier Platforms, Inc., Publix, Kroger – Hwy 138, and the Rockdale Career Academy.
