CONYERS, Ga. – The community is invited to a much-anticipated health and job fair that will provide an abundance of educational materials as well as focus on programs and initiatives to strengthen individuals, and thereby strengthen the overall community.
The Rockdale County Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force is hosting the free event on Saturday, September 19th, from 9 a.m. – noon at Peeks Chapel Elementary School, 2800 Avalon Boulevard in Conyers, 30013. No pre-registration or RSVPs are needed.
For the job fair, participants should come dressed professionally and appropriately with several copies of their resumes. It is anticipated there will be some interviews on the spot.
Partners along with Rockdale County Government in this event are the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), and the U.S. Department of Justice – Bureau of Justice Assistance.
This event is part of a targeted, collaborative effort to ultimately improve livability in Rockdale County. In October 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice awarded the county a major grant to develop a plan to address crime. This planning grant is being used to gather data, develop a strategic plan that will lead to crime reduction and community revitalization, and engage community members and leaders to help shape ongoing crime prevention and revitalization efforts.
As part of these efforts, the Rockdale County Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force has partnered with the Board of Commissioners and Non-Profit Consortium Inc. to host this fair.
