On August 31, 2016, retired New York City firefighter Billy Martin, who was on the ground at the World Trade Center on 9/11, recently spoke with Erica Luther and Don Swaney’s freshman English class at Rockdale County High School (RCHS) about his experiences on that day and the after-effects he and other firefighters and workers on the ground in the days following 9/11 experienced.
“For many of the students, who were not yet born in 2001, this was their first time hearing first-hand from a witness about 9/11, and they were transfixed,” said Swaney.
