RCPS Foundation Launches Annual Campaign with New Director

Education Rockdale

rockdale cpsfConyers, GA—The Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation kicked off its annual giving campaign this month with the goal of raising more funds to support teachers and students district-wide.

The Foundation also has its first-ever executive director. Local resident and Rockdale Schools parent Kysa Daniels assumed the position in July. “It’s quite an honor to affiliate with an organization that, for decades now, has done so much to support excellence in Rockdale schools,” Daniels says. “I look forward to providing leadership for and helping to grow the Foundation so that we can award even more grants and scholarships to our 21st century educators and students.”

This year’s campaign goal of $16,000 will enable the Foundation to continue assisting teachers with grants that enable them to provide extended learning activities for students. The Foundation also provides funding to support the annual Superintendent’s College Scholarship and recognizes outstanding Rockdale educators through professional development opportunities.

“The Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation is depending on the continued generosity of local business owners and individuals to ‘Champion the Children’ to help us exceed our campaign goal,” says Rose Collins, campaign co-chair.

For this school year, the Foundation awarded more than $10,000 to 12 teachers for projects related to robotics, visual arts, technology and more. “My students are benefitting greatly from the Foundation grant, which has allowed me to creatively expand my instruction and make the lessons more meaningful for them,” says Katie King, Davis Middle School art instructor.

Since 1988, the Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation has provided more than $450,000 in funding for teacher grants and student achievement initiatives. The taxexempt, nonprofit works in close partnership with the school system and is governed by a Board of Trustees. Learn more and donate at RCPSFoundation.com.
