Conyers, GA – The Rockdale County Department of Recreation & Maintenance is inviting the public to the Milstead Park ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 18, 5 p.m., at Milstead Park, 1665 Main Street, Conyers 30012.
The ceremony will celebrate the SPLOST-funded renovations made to Milstead Park featuring the opening of the new splash pad for children to play in.
“This is an exciting time for Rockdale County. New park amenities including a splash pad are now available to the community,” Recreation and Maintenance Director Jackie Lunsford said. “I want to give a special thanks to the SPLOST Recreation Sub-Committee, our Recreation Commission and hard-working Recreation staff.”
After taking nearly a year and a half to complete, the newly renovated park includes an open lawn, small walking trail, a pavilion, picnic area, swings and exercise equipment. The 20 by 30 feet splash pad, which now stands where the old Milstead pool used to be, is an above ground play area with various water fountains and streams, and combines different water movements to entertain users.
The park and splash pad will be open for public use after the ceremony. Lunsford is encouraging children to attend the celebration with their swimsuits to play in the splash pad right after the ceremony.
