Newton Trails to Host Ribbon Cutting Celebration for the Eastside Trail Kiosk

East Metro Board of REALTORS® Awards Grant for Trail Use

NewtonTrailsKioskLocal trail advocacy organization Newton Trails will host a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. on the Eastside Trail to celebrate the trail’s newest amenity, an informational kiosk located on the Library end of the trail. The kiosk was built as a result of a $1,200 grant awarded to Newton Trails by the East Metro Board of REALTORS® (EMBOR).

“EMBOR is excited to support the Newton County Trails. EMBOR makes every effort to give back to and support the community in which we work and serve,” says Dr. Cynthia M. Davis, current EMBOR president. “Supporting the Newton Trails allows us the opportunity to support the vision of developing an environment in Newton County which promotes a ‘healthy, vibrant, prosperous community.’”

The kiosk, designed by volunteer Randy Vinson and built by volunteer Rick Meichsner, will provide information for all trail users, including trail maps created with the Newton County and Covington Geographic Information System (GIS) office. Flyers will be posted about the organization’s community walks, bike rides and socials inside the kiosk. The organization hopes to eventually add another kiosk on the Eastside High School end of the trail.

“Newton Trails appreciates that the East Metro Board of Realtors recognizes the value of trails in our community and is willing to donate funds to improve the Eastside Trail,” says Sara Vinson, chairperson of Newton Trails. “The support of local realtors confirms what we have long known – trails are assets to the communities that build them.”

The entire community is invited to attend the ribbon cutting, which will be held near the kiosk at the 0.1-mile marker of the trail near the library. Light refreshments will be served. For more information on Newton Trails, visit www.newtontrails.org.
