As the holiday season approaches, the Rockdale Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary would like to share with the community a meaningful way to express sympathy, esteem, or appreciation for a friend or loved on when a gift is appropriate but difficult to select.

A gift to the Love Light Tree, sponsored by the volunteers is a significant tribute which continues to give by enhancing health care services available to the community.

Funds from the Love Light Tree Project are designated each year for medical equipment for the hospital.  Since the project’s inception in the early 1980’s, the Auxiliary has contributed more than $200,000 in equipment to the hospital.

This Year a goal of $6,000 has been set to purchase sleeper chairs for the Birth Place.  These chairs fold out for sleeping accommodations for family members staying over during the stressful time of bringing new life into this world.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, all donations made to the RMC Volunteer Auxiliary are tax deductible.  The Auxiliary has several tiers for donations which include tokens of appreciation from the Auxiliary for support of this Project.

Any donation up to $49 is considered a Tree of Light Donor will have a holiday ornament placed on the Auxiliary’s Memory Tree dedicated to honoring our loved ones.  For donations of $50 to $149, our Giver of Hope donors will be included in the advertising for the Love Light Tree Celebration Program and any follow up publicity.  Special Angel Donors giving $150 up to $500 will also receive a Love Light Tree Celebration T-Shirt commemorating the Event.  A Shining Light Donor contributing $501 to $1,000 will additionally receive a holiday gift basket from the Volunteer Auxiliary made especially for the donor in appreciation for their generous contribution.  And, for Diamond Donors giving more than $1,000 to the Love Light Tree Project, a special name plate will be attached to one of the sleeper chairs purchased through the generosity of this level of donation.  Diamond Donors will also be included in the presentation and follow up publicity for the gifts to the Birth Place.

Individuals may also purchase a long-sleeved royal blue commemorative t-shirt for $25 without designating a gift to someone.  

Contribution envelopes and t-shirts are available by contacting the RMC Volunteer Auxiliary at 770-918-3007.  Once the donation gift has been received, acknowledgement cards will be sent to the person(s) being honored as well as the person(s) making the donation.

The community is invited to attend the 35th Annual Love Light Tree Celebration on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.  The Program will take place in the Atrium of the East Tower of Rockdale Medical Center.  A children’s activity is scheduled to start at 5:15 pm with the official Program starting at 6 pm.  This year’s featured guest speaker is Benny Atkins with National EMS followed by entertainment by the Pine Street Elementary School chorus, the One Nation Experience Dance Troupe, and a featured song by an Auxiliary Volunteer, Renee Browning.  As a special treat, Santa will be available for personal interaction with the children attending the celebration.
