If you’re ready to get outside and enjoy spring weather AND you want to support a worthy cause in the process, the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation (KCAF) has just the activity for you – The annual Walk with Angels walk-a-thon.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2014, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Olde Town Pavilion, the 4th Annual Walk with Angels needs you! Grab your friends and family to form a team or step out on your own to honor the memory of someone who experienced breast cancer or to celebrate those who are fighting and surviving. The mile markers for each of the eight miles on this trek represent the qualities required in the fight against cancer: Strength, Hope, Courage, Determination, Faith, Wisdom, Love & Support, and Bravery. You will be empowered as walk each mile and finally cross the finish line whether you are a survivor, care giver, family member, or friend! You will feel good about the difference you are making – especially knowing that the money you raise will stay right here in Rockdale County to help others in their journey.
It’s easy to sign up. Simply visit the KCAF website – www.kimatkins.net – and follow the links. You can register your team or make a donation online. Individual walkers are required to raise a minimum of $300 each. Walkers on teams are required to collect between $200 and $300 depending upon the number of walkers on each team. Each registered walker receives a t-shirt and goodie bag. There will be lots of prizes for individuals and teams – Most Money Raised by an Individual Walker/Team, Most Spirited Team, Most Determined Walker – to name a few. Registration is now open so don’t delay. The sooner you sign up, the sooner you can start raising money!
The mission of KCAF is changing lives by providing education, compassionate support, and prevention programs promoting breast health awareness. Toward that goal, KCAF provides education about Breast Self-Exams, funds breast screenings and mammograms if needed for women with limited financial resources, and offers support to those fighting breast cancer. In partnership with the Rockdale and Newton Health Departments, Rockdale Medical Center and Newton Medical Center, KCAF has funded more than 300 screenings/mammograms since the program began in 2012.
So “think pink” as you see signs of spring emerging and join our quest! Remember and honor all those in your lives who have been touched by breast cancer. Don’t wait! Sign-up today! www.kimatkins.net.
