WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today welcomed Pastor Charles Smith of Madison, Ga., as guest chaplain for the day of the U.S. Senate.

“Mr. President, I want to take a minute to acknowledge the presence of our chaplain today, Charles Smith, his lovely wife Jennifer and his family members who traveled from Madison, Ga., and around Georgia to be here today as he serves our country as our chaplain of the day,” said Isakson in a speech on the Senate floor. “Charles has his doctorate in the ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His wife is a family and marriage counselor and an ordained minister. And his niece Megan serves us in the Republican cloakroom and does so on a daily basis with joy to all of us. We welcome Charles Smith and his family, and we thank him so much for his ministry today and his witness today but also thank him for all the leadership he’s given to Megan who does such a great job for us.”
