Fifty Hightower Trail Elementary fifth graders and six chaperones had the learning experience of a lifetime as they went on an overnight field trip to the Driftwood Educational Center at St. Simons Island, Ga. just before the Thanksgiving break. At Driftwood, students received hands-on lessons on the health of an intertidal zone, the physics of a feather, the organisms that live in the ocean waters, reptiles large and small that live in Georgia, Georgia’s native history, animal adaptations to the ocean and how to perform a fish dissection.
