High Priority Plumbing Encourages Awareness About the Vital Role of Plumbing on World Plumbing Day

By eMetro Times | on March 11, 2024 | 0 Comment
eMetro News Featured Newton Rockdale

clean drinking waterOn Saturday, March 11, 2024, High Priority Plumbing acknowledges World Plumbing Day and wants to build awareness about the important role of plumbing in improving health and safeguarding the environment. For many of us, having clean drinking water and proper sanitation is taken for granted. Yet, there are many instances of inadequate plumbing and inferior quality of water due to poor plumbing around the world and even here in the United States.

Every year on March 11th, World Plumbing Day is recognized as an international event that was established to encourage the entire plumbing industry to promote the vitally important role that plumbing plays in the lives of so many people around the globe. World Plumbing Day was initiated by the World Plumbing Council who remind us that, “Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease. At any given time, half of the world’s hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from water-related diseases.”

According to the World Health Organization:

  •        650,000,000 people do not have access to safe water.
  •        2.3 billion do not have access to an adequate bathroom.
  •        315,000 children die every year from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation.

Lack of effective plumbing infrastructure is a major factor in the statistics. While we are at an advantage with our infrastructure in the U.S., health and safety problems exist that continue to cause water-related diseases. Many of our problems from water-related diseases result from corroded pipes, leaks that foster mold, clogs that cause sewer backups, and more.

What can you do? With better plumbing, you can prevent water-related diseases. The availability of clean drinking water and basic sanitation affect everyone. It is important to understand the plumbing in your home, learn to identify leaks and make repairs promptly, and schedule repairs to address stubborn clogs before the sewer problem escalates.

There is also a growing concern about access to clean drinking water in the future. In the U.S., drought and pollution limit our drinking water availability. One way you can do your part is by helping to conserve water. Learn basic tips for reducing your water usage and install eco-friendly products when possible.

Simple plumbing solutions can make the difference in improving health and safeguarding the environment. If you have a problem with a dripping tap, a leaking water line, or another issue with your water and sewer system, contact High Priority Plumbing at 770.860.8110 in Atlanta or 912.373.7707 in Savannah to schedule prompt repairs.
