Most of us have a checking, savings or investment account that we like seeing deposits go into. We like to see those sums grow and compound and know that we are building for a future endeavor. Each of us has a Personal Health & Wellness account that we also need to contribute to. Unfortunately, we tend to make thousands of daily debits with little or no thought to the consequences.
Your daily contact with other humans, synthetic materials, lack of exercise and substandard nutrition can leave you depleted. There is a revelation that occurs as we age. The discovery that body parts are not moving as well as they once did, that energy levels and enthusiasm may have decreased and perhaps that the priorities we once had have shifted. Stress can, as we all know, cause catastrophic health concerns.
Don’t stop reading now…I have pointed out what you already know to be true. This does not mean you have to change your lifestyle overnight. Start small. Try something new. Use the stairs. Park further away. Stretch. Go for a walk. Substitute fruit for cake. Add a vegetable to the menu. Drink more water. Relax with a book or your favorite tunes. None of these will break the bank and even a small effort will be a big reward to your body, your feeling of accomplishment and your overall wellness. Keep in mind it takes work. It takes effort and planning on your part to change the daily routine but aren’t you worth it? Isn’t spending more quality years with friends and family important enough for you to make a minor adjustment? Don’t you want to live the coming years with a good quality of life?
YES! Well, I challenge you, double dog dare you or whatever it takes to help you get moving. Get started today. Consider an easy change for your life and start there. You may feel the need to jump on Pinterest and check out some 7-10 minute exercises or Facebook your friends for a walk route or Tweet a new recipe idea. All of these ideas are a great start!
