Family Promise of NewRock will be celebrating 3 years of assisting homeless families find permanent housing and employment on November 7th 2014. That evening the 2nd annual “Building Roads of Promise, Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser” will be held at the Rockdale Career Academy.
Roughly 240 people attended last year’s inaugural event and the goal is to reach 300 this year. The RCA Culinary Arts students will prepare the meal and Master of Ceremonies will be Reverend Billie Cox.
The organization consists of a network of churches that support homeless families find temporary housing in different church buildings on a rotating schedule. There are 12 host churches and 6 supporting churches committed to making these families feel welcome, preparing warm meals and giving them a place to sleep.
Family Promise of NewRock, for the first time since its existence, is at full capacity with 4 guest families consisting of 4 mothers and 10 children ranging from 1 to 17 years old.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.familypromisofnewrock.org. A single ticket cost is $30 and a table for 8 is $200. A wide variety of auction items and big green egg will be auctioned off. Tickets for the big green egg are $25 each or 5 for $100 and can also be purchased online.
The Rockdale Career Academy is located at 1064 Culpepper Drive, Conyers. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and please come dressed in festive attire.
