A high-school performing arts academy staging a well-known adult musical is a bigger undertaking than it looks, and the listing below records one such production by a school's thespian troupe and its own players company. The show was given over successive weekends with matinees, which is the pattern a school uses when demand exceeds the size of its auditorium and when the cast has to be back in class on Monday.

The listing is also a small lesson in how school theatre is financed. Ticket prices are tiered for adults, senior citizens and students, and set low enough that a family can come as a family; the box office is an extension on the school switchboard; and the production credits its authors properly — music, lyrics and book named separately — because a school must license a title like this and the license requires the billing. Anyone planning a trip to student theatre should expect the matinee to be the relaxed performance and the second weekend to be the sharper one.

This page is the archive record of a production at a county high school, staged in the past. Dates, prices, the box office number and the troupe's own website belong to that season. City Home does not sell tickets, take registrations or manage listings.
